Agenda:

  • Wiki Update
    • The main page has been redesigned:
      • The graphic overview has been removed
      • Links to 4 new pages have been added:
                    -          Design
                    -          Development
                    -          Multi-Media
                    -          Writing
    • Current contents of the new pages are empty, but can contain URL's, documents, comments, etc.  Project team members are encouraged to add contributions as they see fit.
  • Multi-Media Approach
    • Ken evaluated over seven products to produce the multi-media segments, and trialed 3. All solutions produce Flash files that would reside on our server; the developer will just need to link to a driver HTML page residing on the server. The leading candidate is Articulate.
    • Articulate offers more customization options than PointeCast, the second leading candidate. Articulate also offered a search function, unlike PointeCast.
    • MIT-AV can produce sound files which should exceed the quality possible through Articulate's recording option. Articulate, however, offers excellent synching options. If we go with the MIT-AV approach, we will need to also use MIT-AV to produce any updates; mixing MIT-AV recordings with Articulate recordings will lead to very inconsistent results.
    • Tom wanted to make sure that Bob Wilt is aware of the link particulars.
    • Ken is reviewing the choice of software once more with Laurie Bryce.
  • Image Usage/Acquisitions
    • Wing was given the green light on using Christopher Harting's photographs on 5/16/09
    • Tom has provided license info to Julienne and Ken, who will follow-up with Tom.
  • IS&T Update
    • Ranjani reported that Paul Hill secured resources to host improved pages on acquiring a MIT Certificate.
    • Ranjani will confirm that their schedule will coincide with ours, so that we will only have to post a link.
  • Writing & Design Issues
    • Kath delivered the first draft of materials to Janet and Julienne
    • Janet liked the content very much, and had only a few copy edits to make.
    • Calendar Changes:
      • Janet reported that they discussed increasing the amount of time to turn around feedback to Kath.
      • Janet and Kath developed a new scheduled based on a week review time by MIT (versus 3 business days)
      • Kath confirmed that they coordinated the new schedule with Wing, and that there no conflicts between design and writing deliverables
      • Janet will send Ken the updated schedule.-
  • Other Issues
    • Ken stated that Articulate offers interactive quiz pages as part of the PowerPoint presentation. One possibility is to introduce a MIT Trivia quiz or some other fun activity as part of the overview.
    • Chuck mentioned that MIT quizzes were already available in the MIT web space.
    • There was interest in using this Articulate capability, and that as the web site develops, we'll be able to better decide how to use it (if at all).
  • Action Items
    • Tom will confirm whether PSB's conference room would be available for the next meeting
    • Ken & Julienne will follow-up with Tom over image rights
    • Ranjani will report back on the timing of IS&T's web page updates.
    • Janet will provide Ken with the updated writing calendar
  • No labels
