    • We missed the initial proposal date (Mar. 15th), but if we are interested, we must submit a "Letter of Intent" by April 2, 2009, and the final proposal is due April 15, 2009
    • I think this is more for "original" ideas though, not something like OLPC which is already its own program....

Sally Whitcher World Travel and Peace Award

  • Only give out two $500 awards each semester...
    Be at least 18 years of age and a post-secondary, undergraduate student planning to travel abroad.
    Attend college/university within Eastern New England (ME, Eastern MA, NH or RI).
    Project a plan for travel while abroad that features intercultural experiences.
    Create a plan for sharing travel experiences and describing the impact of your travel in meeting the HI-USA mission to help all gain a greater understanding of the world and its people.
    Demonstrate intent to share those experiences with HI-ENEC and specific audiences within the community (ex. class, student organization, youth group, etc.) through one activity from EACH of the following two categories:
    Share with HI-ENEC: writing a newsletter article, presentation to the Board of Directors
    Share with the community: presentation at college/university, facilitating/hosting a travel workshop or Travelers' Circle, community exhibit of art, film, music or another artistic product of travels, etc. (other ideas will be considered if proposed by applicant)
    Keep a travel blog to share experiences with HI-ENEC and the community
    Complete and return electronic application (below).
    Include reference information for a faculty member or community leader.
