Conor Walsh is currently an Instructor in Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, a Lecturer at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Science and a Research Affiliate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His interests are in engineering design and developing innovative medical devices, from conceptual through detailed design, with close collaboration with practicing physicians. His multi-disciplinary research spans engineering design, robotics, biology and medicine and has been published in over twenty five peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. His teaching interests are in the area of machine design and controls where hands-on learning is combined with lecture based instruction. He recently secured funding for and launched a new medical device design course at Harvard where students design and prototype a medical device with a clinician “customer”.

Conor received his B.A.I and B.A. degrees in Mechanical and Manufacturing engineering from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland in 2003 and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2006 and 2010. While at MIT Conor also undertook a minor in entrepreneurship through the Sloan School of Management and a Certificate in Medical Science through the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology. He has been the recipient of over a dozen design, entrepreneurship and student mentoring awards including the MIT $100K business plan competition and the MIT Graduate Student Mentor of the Year.
