Letter Grades

Click 'Letter Grades' to jump to the 'Letter Grading Table' form where Instructors/Graders can assign a Letter Grade to each Student.

  1. Student Name - The name of each Student is listed. The column is sortable. Click the column heading to sort by ascending or descending order. Point the cursor on a Student Name to see a tooltip for the Student's email address.
    • Click on a Student name to jump to the 'Student Grade Summary' form. The 'Student Grade Summary' form details all assignments/exams for the Student. See the 'Student Grade Summary' for more information on how to enter or modify assignment points, assign a makeup grade, assign a letter grade, approved original and makeup grades, and add a Student comment.
  2. Section - (Optional. See Setting Up Sections) The Section the Student is assigned to when Sections are established for the course.
  3. Show/Hide History - Click to toggle viewing a popup overlay of the changes made to the Student's Letter Grade. The popup tells you the current Letter Grade, the Date and Time it was entered, the Action - Create (new but not approved), Change (modified but not approved), or Approve (final and approved); the Grader's name, and the role of the Grader.
  4. Letter Grade - Enter a Letter Grade in the text field provided for each student. The text field changes to yellow to indicate that the grade is not finalized or approved. Click the UPDATE button to accept the grade and any changes that are made to the 'Letter Grade' column.
    • The 'Letter Grade' column can be sorted by clicking the column heading once for ascending order, and clicking a second time for descending order. Grades that fall outside of the A-F scope will appear either at the top or the bottom of the sort order.
    • Click 'Approve Grade' to finalize a grade. Letter grades are NEVER viewable by students, even if they are approved.

      NOTE

Changes made to a grade after it is approved is automatically returned to "Unapproved" status.

  5. Cumulative - The student cumulative score for the assignment/exam.
  6. Weighted Cumulative - (Optional) The assignment/exam's weighted cumulative score.
  7. Grade Status - Instructor/Graders can approve grades in two ways: 'Approve All' and 'Approve' by student.
  8. Approve All - All grade changes to the table are approved and submitted at the same time. Clicking 'Approve All' only affects the fields that contain grade values. Those that do not are disregarded.
    • Once approved, the 'Grade Status' column shows 'Grade Approved' and the Letter Grade changes to green, to indicate it is approved.
  9. Approve by Student - Click the 'Approve' button to approve an individual Student's grade. Once approved, the 'Grade Status' column shows 'Grade Approved' in green and the Letter Grade changes to green. If a grade is not approved, the 'Approve' button is visible in the 'Grade Status' column.
