Leonard I. Sudenfield came to MIT in 1948 and was a member of the Course III family for more than five decades; a technician in DMSE and CMSE, he worked closely with many faculty members and students. Lenny was awarded the Purple Heart in 1944 by orders of the 7th Armored Division, for wounds received as a result of enemy action in September 1944, in the St. Privat Area, France. Many years later, he and Prof. Pelloux travelled to France for a ceremony honoring the Division’s bravery.
