Anthony J. Zona died on June 5, 2006. Tony was born in Boston and was a life-long resident of East Boston. He served his country as a Signalman First Class in the US Navy during World War II, serving on the USS Allagash (AO-97), where he learned welding. Tony was a Technical Instructor in the Building 4 welding lab for more than 35 years. As welding integrates the science and technology of metallurgy, in the past, Course III students received welding instruction from faculty, assisted by Mr. Zona. He was well-liked, and his ingenuity and skill in creating artistic and technical pieces is remembered in the Department. Tony will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was the beloved husband of Theresa M. (Gaeta) Zona, loving brother of Joseph Zona of East Boston and Marie Zafferano of Watertown, and a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.
