Here are more details on how to apply for a Spring UROP for iGEM:

  1. Decide if you want to UROP for credit, volunteer or pay. The UROP office will not always fund first time UROPs. If you decide credit, it can be 3, 6, 9 or 12 units of credit. If you put down 12 units of credit, then that means you are committing yourself to an average of 12 hours a week working in the lab.  Here are the deadlines:

  3. Go here to initiate your application: https://sisapp.mit.edu/uropweb/home.mit
  4. On the left, choose the option either Credit or Direct Funding (Volunteer means that you do not get paid or receive credit for UROPing)
  5. On the next page, choose term Spring 2014, Professor Ron Weiss
    1. Choose either course 20 or course 6 depending on which dept. you want the UROP to count towards
  6. Location of UROP: NE47-215
  7. Direct Supervisor:
    1. You should email Brian Teague (teague@mit.edu) asking who this will be
  8. The final (and hardest step) is writing the proposal.

  9. If you submitted for credit, you will also have to register for the appropriate course (i.e. 20.URG) for the same number of units. If this happens past reg. day, then you can add through and ADD/DROP form
