1. Download the driver from this page.  These drivers are for Windows 7 (32 and 64-bit, as far as I can tell); they may or may not work with Windows 8.  If you want to try other drivers (or need drivers for XP), go to the manufacturer's download site here.

DOWNLOAD WINDOWS 7 DRIVERS HERE.

  1. Navigate to your Downloads folder.  Right-click the ZIP file and choose "Extract All..."
  2. Click "Extract"
  • The ZIP file contains a "Driver" folder.  Open it.

If you're running 64-bit Windows (likely!), run "Setup64" ... otherwise, run "Setup".

  • Click through the license.  On the second page, leave the settings as they are: "Install printers", "Preference for IPv4".  Then click "Next."
  • The installer thinks for a minute, then shows you the C454e printers on the network.  THERE ARE TWO; SELECT ONLY THE ONE AT ADDRESS 18.125.2.143. (This is the second floor printer; the other is on the third floor.)

NOTE: IF YOU HAVE A LAPTOP (and are connected with WiFi), you will not see the printers! Instead, select "Specify Printer/MFP Except for the Above" and click "Refer to..."

Choose "IPv4,IPv6 Address" and enter the printer's IP address: 18.125.2.143 ... then click OK.

  • Click "Next."  The driver asks which components you want installed; unless you have a good reason (hint: you probably don't!), leave the PCL driver selected and the PS and FAX drivers unselected.

The driver installer gives you an installation summary; click "Install."

  • Now the driver is installed.  From the "Finish Installing Drivers" screen, click "Print Setting"
  • The driver connects to the printer and shows you the main settings page.  Choose the "Basic" tab.
  • Click "Authentication / Account Track"
  • You can leave the "Department Name" blank.  In the "Password" box, enter the magic number that Olga sent out.  Click "Verify" to make sure everything is working.
  • Click "OK", then click "Finish."  You should now be able to print from other applications without any additional effort.
