Add to presentation:

  • status
  • transfection data
  • plasmid/part information
  • cell culture done and planning to do
  • miRNA
    • add logic circuit diagram to miRNA classifier circuit
    • remove cancer classifier circuit
  • pictures - who we are slide
  • progression of the disease: where does it start - where does it end up
  • who we are before why are we working on alzheimer's

Presenting:

  • not overselling - set the right expectations
  • not underselling
  • concise and to the point
  • intro statistic slide is not engaging
  • put in diagram showing pathways of the disease to emphasize the complexity of the disease
  • mentioning the process of generating the project - brainstorming
  • iap activities
  • many students in igem stay and work on independent projects
  • characteristics of alzheimer's: remove the bullets and enhance the graphics
  • cite images
  • more fluid animation for BCell Receptor group
  • make a diagram like the cancer classifier circuit for the miRNA
  • miRNA explanation should be smoother

Rationale: why are we using synthetic biology to treat this problem:

  • Alzheimer's disease has a set of very well defined characteristics that we can use as inputs for our processing circuit
  • we are beginning to understand the molecular basis of the disease
  • emphasize the complexity of the disease

Treatment:

  • show cleavage of beta-amyloid oligomers on the diagram of beta-amyloid formation
  • detection module not membrane bound (also not like tango system) - transcription factor - treatment REDO DIAGRAM

Conclusion:

this is where we are and this is where we are going

  • eg. we are beginning to manipulate mammalian cells and this is what we have (microscopy picture)
