In our third floor lab, we have consealed stocks of Hexane and Toluene.

When you need to use it, please bring the stocks to the Thomson's lab and open/pour into a small squeeze bottle as much as you use in the chemical fume hood. Then, please keep lids closed and store back the stocks in our third floor lab.

Also, examine the material safety data sheets (MSDS) in the attachmed files.

When you read the sheets, please carefully look at:

1. Threshold limit value (concentration of an airborne substance that provides protection from adverse effects for the majority of workers) - higher number, safest

2. Flash point (lowest temperature that a vapor will ignite in the presence of a spark or flame) - higher number, safest

3. Evaporation rate (numeric value given to a chemical to determine the rate that it will exaporate) - lower number, safest

When you purchase other organic solvents, please don't forget to update this page with its MSDS.
