It isn't always obvious how you would open prepackaged Data Warehouse reports from IS&T in Brio Query on the Mac. And then when we figure it out, sometimes we forget. Fortunately the process isn't too bad once you have it written down.

First, be sure you have MIT's Citrix Receiver installed. If you don't have it, you can get it here.

  1. Run Firefox or Safari
  2. Download the appropriate report in your browser from the report list.
  3. Save the report to an appropriate location you'll remember (eg. on your "Desktop", in a "Reports" folder in "Documents")
  4. Run Citrix Receiver.
  5. Run Brio Query from the Citrix applications list options.
  6. In Brio Query, go to File-> Open
  7. Select the "C" Drive which in actuality maps to the folder hdname:Users:user_folder (where hdname is the name of your hard drive and user_folder is the name of your account folder in the Users folder)
  8. Brio Query will ask: "Do you want to allow or deny access to this folder for the rest of the session?"
  9. Click Allow. This will allow the "Open" dialogue box to appear on your screen. If it asks you what kind of access, always select "Read/Write".
  10. Navigate to the C$ virtual hard drive. When you open C, what displays will be a list of folders on your Mac.
  11. Navigate to the folder location on your Mac where you saved the files from before.  (Desktop, Documents, etc)
