These are a working draft and are not intended for Phase I.

  1. Launch VMware Fusion
  2. Click New
  3. Click Continue
  4. Set Operating System to Linux
  5. Set Version to Red Hat enterprise Linux 4
  6. Press Continue
  7. Change Save As to MIT Athena 9.4
  8. Press Continue
  9. Set Disk size to 20
  10. Expand Advanced disk options
  11. Check Split disk into 2GB files
  12. Press Continue
  13. Uncheck Start virtual machine and install operating system now
  14. Press Finish
  15. Click Network
  16. Select Bridged
  17. Press OK
  18. Click Start Up
  19. Click in the virtual machine to activate it
  20. Once you see "Welcome to MITnet's PXE boot service!" press F8.  If you are automatically booted into the Windows Operating System Client Installation Wizard for the WIN.MIT.EDU domain, you'll have to reboot the virtual machine and try again.  Note - depending on your keyboard and system settings, you might have to press the "fn" + F8 to send the correct key stroke.
  21. Use the arrow keys to select Athena
  22. Press return
