Patrick, Chris and I met on February 15th to discuss logistics for the upcoming VMWare release project and agreed the best approach would be a phased one, much like the Vista Release project. Since the month of February is mid-way, some team members will be on vacation and others have other priorities, the project will most likely kick off in mid-March. Work will begin behind the scenes now with regard to contacting other vital team players to get them on board early.
For the short term:
Create a list of best practices from security and business standpoints:
- VirusScan
- Auto Update
- note on backup
- malware, defender; treat the VM as a normal windows machine

Phase 1 support:
Installing VMWare
- vmware tools
- network configuration
Phase 2 support: (Q2 FY09)
Installing and Configuring Operating Systems

- Windows XP SP?, Vista SP1, RHEL
Phase 3 support: (TBD)
Using the Operating System
- email, jabber, calendering
State recommendation of using native applications and will support running native applications only if existent in the suite of supported applications today.
Team players
Will have a core team to stay focused with others notified in advance and involved as we get to their particular area. We will have ground rules, a parking lot to keep track of concerns, issues or other items of interest. We will use a wiki as the notebook and keep it public unless sensitive information comes into play.
