Phase I timeline:
Testing and documentation will be wrapping up for phase one within the next few weeks and expect to release shortly thereafter.
Testing
- testing student Windows XP ISO's
- successful in Fusion (Mac)
Because students will not have a key, they cannot utilize Fusion's "Easy Install" option. Without this option, students will have to enter some setup information manually, network type, account name, etc., as well as install the VMware tools manually. - successful in Workstation (Linux)
*Action item: Alex Kozlov to test this scenario on Windows Workstation and note the behavior
*Action item: Chris Gresham will work with Heather Anne to create a set up document based on student installation in Fusion.
Documentation Status:
Heather Anne needs the team to review the Guest OS installing and using document and the known issues document to ensure listed known issues are still that or if any have changed

Lee is working on creating the NAT document for Fusion and will work with Chris Murphy on the other two network documents

Licensing info:
The team reviewed the licensing terms/statement provided based on MS conference call. Heather provided good verbiage to use.
Action item: Deb will work with Esther Yanow to update the MSCA at MIT OS page to reflect operating systems use within virtual machines for faculty, staff and students. Also include the Windows XP student download needs to be installed within a 5 day window or it will fail.
Support pack (technical support) update:
Deb still awaits access to technical support; should be all set next week
Known issues:
- linux check for updates does not work
- fusion check for updates does not work
- non-intuitive alert box when you copy the .lck directory (not mentioned in meeting).
HD Readiness:
Chris Gresham will talk to Barbara and other HD staff with regard to rolling out Phase I support and what is supported. If needed, provide a demo during an upcoming Tuesday staff meeting.
*Action item: Chris Gresham will inform vmware release of outcome and of other possible needs to roll out phase one support.
