244 Teaticket Highway (Rt. 28-S), Falmouth; 508-540-4290. Exhaust and brake repairs on all types of cars. 1-3 day service. Labor prices are fairly steep for other jobs. Check for good sales on brake drums and pads. Several students have had bad experiences here
James Ace Auto Repair
435 Palmer Ave., Falmouth; 508-548-3164. Recommended by Troy (the WHOI mechanic). They get the job done quickly, fair prices.
Paul's Precision Automotive Repair
464 Main Street, Falmouth. (508) 548-3164. Right across from Betsey’s Diner. Experienced mechanic, probably not the cheapest, but highly recommended. Paul will tell you exactly what needs to be done. He will also get you a good deal on tires at Sullivan tire. He is fairly busy, so an appointment is recommended. Specialized in foreign vehicles (VW, Volvo, Saab, Audi, BMW, Mercedes) but will also work on your Toyota or Ford, etc.
Sullivan Tire
East Falmouth, on Rte. 28, near Subway. Free tire rotations if you buy your tires there. Nice guys.
Super Lube
Oil changes. Expensive but fast.
Insurance
Car insurance in Woods Hole is considerably cheaper than in Boston and Cambridge, but you must prove residency. (You should know that if you primarily live elsewhere but try to save money by registering and insuring your car in Woods Hole using your WHOI address, and then you make a claim, and your insurance company finds out that your car is not really garaged primarily on Cape, you're in trouble and they are not obligated to pay your claim at all.)
