Desk Engine was conceived by James L. and Matt V. The project was re-continued when a bet made at IREC 2016 pitted Charlie G. and Matt V. against Sam J. and Trey W. The engine was built as a private project over the summer of 2016. The engine was hot fired for the first time in September 2016. Due to diminishing storage space, the engine will be dismantled. The engine was designed to operate at a chamber pressure of 90 psi and produce 5 lbs of thrust. Steam gauges and hand valves made running this engine a very... personal experience. The engine ran on ethanol and gaseous oxygen.
Edit (Feb. 2018): The engine has still not been removed from Bldg. 17.
