Parking lot for future discussion  (Anyone can add to this!!)

Page layout/style:

  • Should we use tags?
  • What categories should we use?
  • Tabs?  How many?  Naming conventions? Sub-tabs?
  • Maybe Marion is going to figure this out but how should the vera database subcategories be presented here. Would all the subcategories be listed in one box with databases underneath? Each category heading hotlinked to a page with the databases listed? --peter
  • Later, after they change the profile page: Make guidelines for creation of content on profile page?Go through each box type.  Any recommendations?

Best practices:

  • Teach people to link to, instead of copy.
  • How to create tool page for people to copy from?  When, who, how?  Maybe have 2 pages, one managed by Nicole & one for anyone to use?

...

Possible uses for LibGuides that we won't have time/scope for:

  • Virtual Browsery (Nicole asked Hum already, so she may follow up in Summer)
  • General staff use for processing documentation, etc.

...

TO DO:

  • Schedule 4-5 training sessions with all members of task force sharing the load of training (plus Nicole & Darcy?)
  • After training sessions: schedule drop in sessions
  • Search at top for catalog: change to keyword
  • Play with different platforms: safari, ie, firefox

...

Random notes by Angie so they're in one place:

...

2. click on "change status" and you can make a "friendly URL" - yea!

3. rich text boxyou box you can create a table with the built in tools without knowing HTML, BUT, it's a little clunky
not sure why it let me make a table that's bigger than the surrounding box
(ask LibGuides)
