Fireflys are EOL and only a marginal improvement could be done with BBC 2.0.
The proposed change wouldn't increase reliability too much and would require a significant amount of work and a timeline not possible to meet even in the best case.
Not worth time, because of these tasks:
- Preparation of Pyxida 6.1 for Hermes III
- Hardware debugging (one mistake found already)
- RF tests
- Flight tests
- Firmware and HOOTL
- Preparation of new flight computer for the space shot
- Pyxida is not close to fulfilling the requirements, as it wasn't designed for the space shot
- So don't COTS
- So, we need to begin development immediately
- 18 months is a good timeline for a new flight computer (so we're a little behind)
We will still do the improved connectors. This, we think, is a reasonable trade-off of reliability and time.
