We built three initial paper prototypes corresponding to the three designs we did in GR2 - Designs . We tested each of the prototypes on users and incorporated their feedback on our revised design.

Briefing

This is what we told the users:

* ShutterConnect aims to make it easier for people to find photographers, and for photographers to advertise their services.

...

You used the services of the photographer "Ansel Adams" two weeks ago. You were very happy with the service and you want to leave a good reivewreview, highlighting his agreeable personality and the promptness with which he delivered the great photos.

Prototype Designs and Observations

Design 1

Observations on the above design:

...

We wanted to give users the ability to save photographers and remove them from their search results. The goal was to make the search results page be the list of candidates which users would narrow down after viewing profiles. However, both the "remove" and 'save search" were not visible and no one noticed that they could even do this.

Design 2

Observations on the above design:

We hoped that users would just press "enter" when their search was done and not require a "search" button. Most users were confused by this behavior and told us that they were confused because there was no search button.

...

We had a textbox which caused confusion about the proper format to enter times (e.g. am/pm or military time, colon or no colon etc). We should replace this with the time widget from calendaring applications.

Design 3

Observations on the above design:

The fact that the title & comment section of the reviews is optional needs to be indicated clearly.

...

For writing a review, it is implicit that the user finds the photographer first, so they can use the find-a-photographer functionality. We don't need a separate search for review writing.
