Research Description:

Abby’s PhD research focuses on improving the capability to trace contaminated foods back to providers and forward to consumers to facilitate faster, more accurate tracing of contamination sources during large-scale, multi-state food contamination outbreaks. Current investigative methods are slow, resource intensive, and constrained by incomplete manually collected data. Her research seeks to improve outbreak traceability by developing implementable algorithms that identify the highest probability source of contamination in the most efficient manner, given realistic limitations on data availability.
