  • 2013 • MIT, ESD: SM in Technology and Policy
  • 2007 • Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University: BS in Space Physics; BS in Aerospace Engineering

Work Experience:

  • 2008 - 2010 • Peace Corps • Burkina Faso

Engineering intern: Flight simulation modeling and database management.

Research Domain:

universal energy access, sustainability, energy/environment

Research Methodology:

electric power systems analysis, case studies, operations research

Research Description:

Amy's research focuses on developing expansion planning tools for electric power systems and evaluating successful business models to expand electricity access and increase system reliability in developing countries. Her current focus is on the role that regional power pools may play to overcome traditional barriers to increasing generating capacity, expanding access to electricity, and protection from climate change effects.

Amy's previous research analyzed the effects of installing large-scale solar generation in regions with high solar insolation that are heavily dependent on thermal and hydro generation, using Kenya as a case study.
