Platform Support:
Site does not crash or have significant performance impairments
IST monitors - then notifies Penzias. Multi-sites. Time to talk to IST. All virtual machines. New virtual machine needed. Databases are too big. Initiative is growing. Do we need a new server. Current site has [x] users. Spinning up similar sites. Lot of database tracking so will get bigger. Will be making vigorous use of email. Sent through odl.mit.edu server. Might want to separate now rather than later.
Software and patches are kept up to date - Penzias is doing patching. Everything up to Drupal is patched by IST - Linux, OS, Apache. Penzias patches Drupal.
All data on site is preserved and regularly backed up - IST, nightly backups. New sites made by Penzias - notification create a vhost. If retroactive database update goes bad. Autobackup of data before . Put site . Reasonable measures are made by Penzias to ensure proper data backup procedures.
Clear channel for reporting site issues (ie DoneDone). - Hive is primary point of contact for reporting issues -- Hive has open line with Penzias during business hours -- Penzias is responsive -- respond with 24 hours with plan of action. Severity 1 issues can be reported through DoneDone. Penzias will kick a ticket to IST for load limits.
Penzias notifies ODL for server / site outages. IST would notify server owner. Make sure Hive is on that list.
Penzias responds within [2] business hours for
(a). High severity bugs -- core site features don't work
(b) Medium severity bugs -- 24 hours -- site works but basic features are broken -- are addressed during business hours.
DoneDone is assigned to a single person. Highly critical ones go to a specific email list at Penzias.
Site gets compromised. We let Penzias know. Site gets reset to prior version. Investigation begins. Has been done once before.
IST detects lots of email usage. They lock it down. We find out later.
