Notes:

1. Whither Solaris?

A: Not in scope of this group. Seems more appropriate for Owls.
Via instant messaging, Oliver agreed to take the Solaris Sunset
work to Wilson for guidance.

In passing we did note that there are very few 3rd party Solaris-only
apps.
That the biggest customer risk is someone teaching class with ancient
home-grown
Solaris-only software.

2. Why did only 5 of our 10 members show up this week? We will take
this question up next meeting.

3. What about Macintosh as a Cluster platform hosting Linux and
Windows in VMs?

+ Offers all 3 os's
- Hardware more expensive (33% more at least).
? Is a real cleanup for serial usability feasible?
? Is there sufficient MacOS demand?
? Does this approach make strategic sense for customers even if it is
costly?
? Who is the decision maker/implementor?
lavallch has big stake in hardware costs and logistics
ACORD is a stakeholder. othomas is ACORD liaison.
mcneal is a significant resource person.
? What about VMs running on servers instead?

Need to make a serious examination of this idea:
	Viability of platform.
	Viability as platform of choice
	Context set by FY10 Budgeting.

4. Discussion of backup as a Key Feature / Service.
Aired various issues relating to hidden costs, and non-ideal
behavior of TSM.
