Gate
Tech Squares Weekly Job

Description
Responsible for seeing that admission (gate) is taken at the door starting about 15 minutes before the dance starts until about the third tip.  Responsible for keeping cash box safe

When
Starting at 7:40pm on Tuesdays, or 20 minutes before any event begins.

What you need
    • Current attendance list
    • Blank bookkeeping form in white binder
    • Guest book
    • Pens (from briefcase), one for you and one for the guest book
    • Cash box (in briefcase or under caller’s table)
    • Name badges and Sharpies -- if there are no nametags, or few, in the briefcase, ask someone to buy some at LaVerde's.  Put the receipt in the bottom of the cash box, reimburse the buyer from the cash box, and record the expense under "expenses" on the bookkeeping form.

Responsibilities
    • Count the cash box (cash and checks) and write total down at the top of the bookkeeping form. You can assume the bundled bills are bundled correctly.
    • Guest book should be made available. It should be set out with the date written on the top of the next blank page and guests should be encouraged to sign in.
    • Attendance should be taken for all club members.
    • Admission should be taken for all those without subscriptions.
    • During subscription season, record names of people who buy subscriptions at the bottom of the bookkeeping form in the white binder, and draw a line on the attendance     list indicating that they have a subscription.
    • After the second club tip or 9pm, close gate.
Put the cash box under the caller’s table.  Never leave the cash box on the gate table unattended.

Notes
    • Be low-key about the money.  Close the cash box whenever you’re not using it, and put any bills larger than $1 under the tray (MIT regulations). If you must leave gate unattended, please be sure to put the box under the caller’s table.
    •  If you don't know the name of a dancer, ask someone for help.
    •  If someone owes gate money but they're across the room, ask someone to go and send them over to you.
    • If a square is short one person and you are the only person around who can dance, you can close gate by putting the cash box under the caller’s table while you dance.

Thanks for helping with this very important job!
