Only Recitations will create section subsites accessible through links on the Stellar site navigation bar.
When you first navigate to the sections page, if there is MITSIS section information available for the course, the option to import this data will be displayed. Use the "Import Sections" button to automatically create these sections.
After MITSIS sections are imported, the option to update student section assignments from MITSIS data will also be available.
If MITSIS data is not available or has already been imported, the Sections page will appear as in the following screenshot:
From this page, users may edit section details or delete sections. Additional sections may be added via the Add New Recitation panel under the standard Recitation, Lab, Lecture, and Design designations, as well as other custom section types to be added by the user.
The Section Properties panel controls if students are allowed to switch sections themselves and, if so, until when they are allowed to do so.
The Archived panel controls whether or not the membership information for the course should be archived. When "Archive This Course" is checked, all membership content (except for the option to unarchive the course) will be read-only and cannot be modified further. Likewise, students will no longer be able to change their section (even if the set "Last Date to Switch" has not come to pass).
