Announcements

We have released the 2013-14 Gradebook Module, which is a newly redesigned and replaces the legacy Stellar Gradebook!  In August 2014, we will be deploying an updated user interface and many performance enhancements for use in the 2014-15 year. Please contact us if you are interested in usability testing or an upcoming training session gradebook-support@mit.edu.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I obtain access to the Gradebook Module?

If you already have a Fall 2013 course site which was provisioned without the Gradebook Module, you may still enable it by follow these simple manual steps:

From your existing Stellar site:

  • Go to Website Settings
  • Click Edit Navigation Bar
  • Click Advanced Mode
  • Find the box that reads Gradebook and edit the field to read Gradebook Module
  • In the URL box next to Gradebook Module, modify the link to read gradebook3/
  • Save by clicking Submit
  • Gradebook should now appear as a link on the Navigation bar

Please be aware you may need to wait about 20 minutes before the Gradebook Module will be available.

I have my own (non-Stellar) course site and I am interested in using the standalone version of Gradebook Module. How do I obtain access to a standalone instance?

Please send your request to Gradebook Support. Please include the following information in your email:

  • Course name and number (e.g., Introductory Biology, 7.014)
  • Term offered (e.g., Fall 2013)
  • Emails of course instructors, TAs, graders and other administrators

Are there specific browsers that I should use to access Gradebook Module?

Please check the list of browsers supported by IS&T.

Does the Gradebook Module allow for the collection of student submissions?

No. Administrators who require a tool for managing or grading student submissions should use the Stellar Homework Tool. For more information, visit here.

Why can't my students see their grades?

To display approved assignment grades to students, enable "View approved grades" under Students in Permissions. Likewise, make sure the grades you wish for students to view have been approved. (Note: students can never view unapproved assignment grades.)
