We used ~0.2 grams of black powder in each Tender Descender. We tested the parallel configuration.

Tender Descender setup for the parallel configuration looked like this.

The testing configuration looked like this.

After testing looked like this for the first test.

In both tests we accidentally hooked up one side incorrectly–instead of having the Quicklink wrap around 4 lines of Kevlar, it only wrapped around two on one side. This shouldn't actually affect results, so long as the other side is set up correctly, but we found that the second test didn't work for some reason. Although I unfortunately don't have a photo of the failure, my theories are that either:

  • The Tender Descender would have released if there was enough tension (i.e. something was slightly caught and if we had applied a light load, they would have released)
    • More specifically, I think one side of the Tender Descender that we fired didn't fully release, causing the Tender Descender to get stuck in the Quicklink.
