Preparation:
FIT PHENOLIC OVER MOTOR TUBE
Fin jig
-1/4" MDF
-MAKE SURE HOLES ARE BIG ENOUGH
-Fin thickness
What DO: Test fin can
) Cut fins to shape
) bevel edges (sand or end mill)
) stick wax to fabric using spray glue
) cut fiberglass shapes scissorss
) weigh fiber --> use later for wetness ratio
) mark centerline
) Cut tube to size
) Score tube (coarse grit 60-180)
) score fins
2) Put tube in jig
3) Put 5-minute on backs of fins
4) Put fins in
5) Finish assembling jig (put top layer on --> push so that it gets caught on leading edge, BE CAREFUL after glue is set and of messing up LE
) let cure, take it out
) PUT ON YO REPISTROAR
) mix laminating epoxy with colloidal silica
)use fillet tool to add fillets
)let cure
) sand
)mark centerlines on the tube
TIP 2 TIP
) mix epoxy
) weight amount of epoxy used
) wet the glass sheets with laminating epoxy using squeegees
) layup
) vacuum bag (MAKE VACUUM BAG PROCEDURe --> see vacuum procedure)
POSt -procesing
THE REAL DEAL
) cut tube to length
) make sure it fits over motor case
) score eryting
CF layup around tube
- + ONE DAY
) make appropriate fin jig
) assemble in fin jig , root bond
- WAIT one day
) do inner fillets
- + one day
) sand
) outer fillets
- + ONE DAY
) sand outer filletz
