Pre-Hire

These steps should be completed before the new employee arrives.

  • Have the supervisor/employee complete the IT New Hire Form
  • Order a loaner computer by completing the form at Computer Loaner Request Form (email ddm@mit.edu for questions)
  • Prepare office/workspace area
  • Ensure that their account is set up on o365 and not on-prem: email template
  • Email o365-migrations@mit.edu to make sure account is on o365.
  • If employee is 100% remote, ship Ethernet cable to them as well in case of problems

Initial/Day-One Training

These steps should be completed on or around the employee's first day.

  • Link Zoom Phone account at voip.mit.edu
    • Voicemail setup

    • Setup Zoom Desktop app, show how to message people
    • If new hire is a receptionist, add them to the shared call queue voicemail delegates
    • Update CRE Call Tree (if necessary)

    • Contact Page (Accounts Questions, VPN)
    • SAPGui

  • Computer Configuration

    • Default Email/Browser Selection
    • Macs: Add username to dictionary so it doesn't autocorrect/autocapitalize the username
      • Do this on iOS devices as well
      • Inform user that username is case-sensitive
