To use the OneDrive app on MacOS, follow these steps:

  1. Download and install the OneDrive app directly from Microsoft.
  2. Once the app is installed, open it from your Applications folder.

  3. A setup wizard should appear. If it doesn't, you may also click the OneDrive icon in your menu bar.

  4. Sign in using your MIT username and password.
  5. Once you are signed in, you will see a window describing the location of the OneDrive folder on your computer. You can change this location now, or just leave it as a default.

  6. A short tutorial window will then pop up, requesting permissions to sync, as well as providing a description of features. It should end by opening up your OneDrive folder. This folder is linked to your OneDrive account and any changes made to files within the folder will be automatically synced to your OneDrive account.
  7. To upload a file, simply drag and drop it into the OneDrive folder on your computer. This is the same as using Finder normally.
  8. To create a new folder, right-click within the OneDrive folder and select "New Folder." Give the folder a name and press Enter. This is the same as using Finder normally.
  9. To collaborate with others on a document or file, open the file in the appropriate application (such as Microsoft Word or Excel) and save it within the OneDrive folder on your computer. Other users with access to the file can then make changes in real-time and you will see the changes as they are made.

  10. To access your files from other devices, simply log in to your OneDrive account on those devices and your files will be synced automatically.
  11. To customize OneDrive to your preferences, click on the OneDrive icon in your menu bar and select "Preferences." From here, you can modify various settings such as file syncing preferences, notifications, and upload/download speeds. The file syncing preferences are especially important, as they will allow you to determine what is backed up locally, what is duplicated in the cloud, and what is available in the cloud-only.
