Introduction

This page outlines the functions of the CRE website for external communications. The website URL is https://cre.mit.edu/.

Homepage

Averages 20,000+ monthly visitors
Google Analytics - must be logged in to MSRED Gmail to view the stats on the CRE website. 

Banner Feature - Useful for highlighting upcoming events or promoting a news piece etc. This banner can be hidden with a toggle.

Education - section used to highlight master's program, but can also be used to short term promote Professional Ed., REEX or another programmatic offering.

Research - Automated section that rotates through Labs (direct input), Researchers (from People), Initiatives (direct input), and a journal paper of choice (self-selected)

Industry - Showcases an industry impact story of choice (direct input), great feature to highlight new partnerships (Press Release, etc.)

News/Events/Insights - Section pulls 3 items from our website (self-selected); generally this is updated weekly to highlight upcoming events, new articles, etc. (currently not automated to cycle most recent)

Newsletter sign-up form - Links to a form for signing up to receive our monthly newsletter

General Site Maintenance

Weekly

  • Adjust homepage features
  • Publish News articles
  • Publish Incoming Events
  • Ad hoc updates as requested by faculty and staff

Monthly

  • Add new journal accepted research papers
  • Add Newsletter PDF to archive page (CRE News > category: Newsletter)
  • Review 2U online course dates ("Online Courses" page)

Quarterly

  • Every 4 months review updates of apps/widgets/Wordpress versions, release in dev site and check for bugs/issues, then release on site
  • Run Thesis automation in "Manage Imports", ensure correct information, publish drafts
  • Fill in SSRN paper information from drafts in "Research Papers", publish drafts
  • Profile "People" profiles changes, i.e. new students, staff, faculty or researchers
  • Move recent MSRED alumni to "Alumni" category and hold for another year

Yearly

  • Update website with any new institute branding changes, accessibility, style, logo, etc.
  • Perform any major site updates needed/requested which may involve developer
  • Update/review language on all pages, Education, Partners, Alumni, About, etc.
  • Change out/update images for refresh
