August

Large scale recruitment of new players

  • sign up for Athletics Gateway and Activities Midway. In 2006, this was 9/1 4-7pm in the Z-center. Try to have a demonstration period, pretty signs, volleyballs, and free food (eg cupcakes).
  • Poster the dormitories, gyms, hallways, etc.  Sample posters.
  • Put an ad in the Tech newspaper (we get 1 full page free per year, use 1/4 page ads) - use a poster for the ad
  • Possibly send a representative to different orientation events, make sure the volleyball net is set up, & invite girls to come play.
  •  
  • Reserve date for Fall tournament with both Sandy and Yankee. 
  • Email Sandy to confirm the first couple weeks of practice times.

September

  • Enter into tournaments for Fall

October

  • Get CSC approval for Spring Triples Tournament
  • Reserve courts for Spring Triples Tournament
  • Think about Nationals.

November

  • Host fall tournament

December

  • Finalize teams for Nationals
  • January
  • Enter into tournaments for spring
  • Finalize Nationals teams
  • Email CSC with Nationals info so they fund us

February

  • Do Triples tournament logistics - Create on-line signup, find prizes, and advertise.

March

  • Recruitment of players during Open House
  • Nationals teams mustbe finalized & the application must be sent out.
  • Send out invitational email (in conjunction with men's clubs) to the IM volleyball captains.
  • Participate in the spring Athletics Gateway (CSC will send an invitation)

April

  • Enter into tournaments for spring
  • Host spring tournament
  • Host triples tournament (recall we can post an advertisement in the Tech)

May

  • Nationals
  • Fill out reactivation packet for CSC.

June

  •  

July

  • Decide on tryout dates.
    • Maybe leave this vague, so we can make it very flexible each year.
    • Decide if it is appropriate to bring cake/cookies/candy to tryouts.
  • Send both paper & email invitation to all incoming ladies. Avoid mass emails.
