Preliminary FAQ for Potential Thalia Customers:

Thalia is a tool for safely and securely storing your files and for sharing those files with individuals and groups of your choosing at a level determined by you. Thalia has a strong search capability which allows easy retrieval of files from even very large libraries. Thalia is backed up every night. Our servers guarantee the integrity of your data; it is our job to keep your files always secure and always available.

Thalia features a variety of functions that can help you with your work flow. Some of these are:

Getting files into Thalia:
•    The ability to upload any file type
•    Multiple files can be zipped and uploaded together
•    A data sheet can be uploaded with a set of files, and Thalia will attach the correct data to its specified file. This is very useful for quick upload of many files.

Manipulating files in Thalia:
•    Thumbnail previews for some file types; list of types can be found here: https://wikis.mit.edu/confluence/x/O8XC
•    File information can be edited singly or in bulk after upload.
•    Files, singly or in bulk, can be very easily moved from one place to another in Thaia by selecting and dragging.
•    New Libraries, Albums, and Saved Searches provide multiple ways of arranging files for your best workflow practices.

Sharing files with others:
•    Any file can be shared with anyone you stipulate.
•    Several different levels of permissions can be granted.
•    Libraries, albums, slideshows, and saved searches all have direct links that you can send to others to make sharing very easy.
•    Sharing can be changed or revoked anytime you wish.
•    Any file can be downloaded from Thalia. This makes delivering files to others very fast and very easy. You upload; your colleague downloads.

Some things you should know:
•    Your MIT certificates log you in automatically. If they are not installed in the browser you are using, go here to get them: http://web.mit.edu/is/topics/certificates/
•    Be sure to log in at "https". Without the "s" you will be logged in as guest. There is a link on the guest page that will take you to the correct log in page.
•    Poor network connectivity can negatively impact Thalia.
•    The maximum size for an upload is 2GB.
