PEL Updates

We started by modifying our PEL/Power Budget with some new information from controls:

After updating the power budget accordingly, we made some changes to our power modes to account for this information. We decided that all of these new peripherals will receive power in Science Mode and no power in Safe Mode and Uplink/Downlink, with the exception of the Pressure Sensor, which will continue receiving power during Uplink/Downlink. We may choose to give power to the pressure sensor during Safe Mode as well.

Altium Training

We walked through creating a basic PCB design in Altium fitted with a battery connector, an LED, and a resistor. Altium concepts we reviewed included:

  • Creating a project, schematic files, and PCB files
  • Adding components, ground, and power to a schematic
  • Wiring a schematic
  • Annotating a schematic
  • Turning a schematic into a PCB
  • Editing board size
  • Editing layer stackup/number of board layers
  • Wiring a PCB
  • VIAs
  • Creating, shelving, and repouring polygons
  • Uploading a ruleset
  • Running a design rule check
  • Saving files to the server

A second Altium training project will be sent out soon once it's finished! Team members can work on this asynchronously over winter break.
