Summer 26 Weekly Meeting

Tuesday, 7/14/26, 7pm, 33 Mezzanine; https://mit.zoom.us/j/98228784747

Attendance: Liam, Asael, Izaan, Mira, Sebastian, Christiana, Nadia

-----

This meeting, we combined our general meeting with our onboarding meeting, which led to discussion about plans for the upcoming semester, including plans to extend meeting times during the semester and leadership roles for the onboarding team. Outside of onboarding, the team has been making good progress in licensing, reaching out to sponsors, and the ETHER subteams have been productive.

You can view the meeting agenda here.

  • LEONIRD --
    • Northeastern agreed to set up a 1U project to acomodate our timeline, which needs to be discussed further. We are still waiting to hear back from Stanford.
    • We received a quote from Exolaunch (potential launch provider) which is above our preferred price, so we are looking into other providers and companies outside of the US.
    • We are going to start working on soldering the Argus boards. Izaan is gathering a group of people to review the parts needed for soldering Wednesday morning, and the actual soldering will start Thursday morning at around 11:30. Chase will help to lead/teach those who attend the session.
  • ETHER--
    • Subteams have been very productive:
      • Ellery is setting up meeting times for C&DH
      • The thermal couple will be bought off the shelf rather than being custom made
      • Since other sensors have already been selected, there are only a few tasks left to complete: finalizing the tank structure + surroundings of the tank enclosure; fixing controls; and ordering parts. And Izaan wants to buy a microcontroller for Satellite Team separate from the one that Rocket Team uses.
  • Outreach --
    • 4 emails need to be sent out to potential sponsors by tomorrow. There was discussion about identifying willing sponsors based on their websites.
  • Onboarding --
    • The onboarding project has been confirmed to be 4-5 weeks at the beginning of the school year. Rather than having the new members meet multiple times throughout the week, they will meet for an extended time on Saturday to attend trainings and work on building the payload. The biggest questions that remain are: to what extent will the new members be able to design the payload? and who will lead what part of the onboarding process? since the onboarding leadership will be very occupied with onboarding, they will have to lessen their commitment to their subteams for the fall, and there are some people (presidents/vice presidents/sub team leads) that will be unable to make that sacrifice.
    • Onboarding will now be meeting after general meetings on Tuesdays.

Anyone who has questions or wants to talk about Emily's condition can talk to Izaan.
