This page contains comments about the sample jobs sent to OCA for Sloan Working Papers, David Taylor Model Basin, American Society of Steel Treatment, and Albert Einstein Papers.

Images in PDF files are extremely compressed and in my opinion, of poor quality.

Master files, JP2000, are at 300 dpi and look pretty good. Much better than quality of images in PDF files.

Many pages seem to be cropped very tightly with not much room in the margins.

OCA scans blank pages on single sided papers and probably charges for the blanks whereas Doc Services would only scan pages that are part of the document. I think Jennifer Banks mentioned this was a point they brought up to OCA and they shouldn't have scanned the recto sides if it is verso only material.

Are originals really light?? Yes Ann Marie showed the group that this paper was one of the worst.

Color scans are somewhat light and hard to read and BW PDF is awful. Text is lost.

Saw some signatures in DT Model Basin 1962 (no report number). Sean was going to check on policy amount signatures to see if we need to worry about them.

Steel Treating - you would probably want photos to look better than these do.

How would you breakdown journal run like Steel Treating? By issue or the entire thing?

OCR doesn't do equations

OCR is spotty on accuracy for Einstein book
