The MTL User & Machine Management System (MUMMS) is a Web based application for the managing of a lab's users and, in some cases, computers. MUMMS can be used for many purposes, including:

  • Update information related to users and, in some cases, computers (name, email address, settings, etc.)
  • Add or remove services for users
  • View and update the status of prerequisites for those services (EHS training, signoff from staff, etc.)
  • Assign charges for those services to specific supervisors and cost objects

MUMMS Roles

There are a number of different roles that users can have when they access MUMMS, and this affects the functionality they can use. Here are a few roles and some of the operations they can perform.

Role

Some  of the available operations

User

  • View their services, request new services and remove existing services
  • Signoff on some prerequisites for services.

Integration

MUMMS communicates with a variety of lab specific and campus wide systems including the following:

System

Purpose

Coral

MUMMS tracks information on Fab services, prerequisites and cost objects and communicates this information to the Fab management system, Coral. Typical changes in MUMMS that would affect a user in Coral include:

  • Creation of a new user in Coral when they have the requirements for a Fab related service
  • Updating of the projects and accounts that a user can choose from when engaging a machine in Coral.

MIT Data Warehouse

MUMMS pulls information from the Data Warehouse in order to have the latest data regarding:

  • EHS safety training of users
  • MIT departments
  • Campus cost objects (charge accounts) and their owners

MTL Cost Recovery and MIT SAP

MUMMS provides information to the Cost Recovery system which generates charges for lab services. These charges are then uploaded to MIT SAP.
