Continuations: editing the bib. record

Below is a list of Fields to pay particular attention to when cataloging continuations in Aleph. See also: DCM B7; Call Numbers for Classed Together Multi-part Sets; Notes in the Catalog Record (book in Shared Resource Room)

Fixed field 008Type of date code: [usually m or s]
Date 1: [year]
Date 2: [year]

These are the Aleph equivalents of OCLC fixed field bytes DtSt:
Dates:[year],[year]

245 a-bMake sure the title hasn’t changed.

245 cIf authors on 245 are different from item in hand, make notes (500 field) and additional added entries (7xx) as appropriate.

260 a-bMake note (500 field) if imprint has changed.

260 cFill in latest year of publication in angle brackets if temporary, or close the date range if set is complete.

300 aFill in all known published volumes if possible.

4xx/830 vFill in series number for each volume added.

505 1Fill in distinctive titles of individual volumes if present. Change 505 first indicator to 0 if contents are complete.
