Instructor / Student View

From the instructor view, you can toggle the display mode between instructor and student view to see how the page will appear to your students by clicking on the "show student view link" at the top of the page. The gray link is the currently selected mode.

As displayed in the Student view, Students can open, download, and save topic materials to their own desktop. Students cannot edit or reorder topic materials.

The instructor view will still show all of the students if the instructor clicks on an assignment where a student will only see their own name.

Hiding Materials from Students

Hiding a document, webpage, or weblink from students will make a document invisible to the student as if it does not exist on the page. You can also preview a student's view of the materials page (which will not contain the hidden document).

Directions to Hide Materials:
  1. Click Materials in the navigation bar.
  2. Click the edit link on the document, webpage, or weblink you want to be hidden
  3. Select "Hide document from students" to switch viewing from "show document" to "hide document from students".

Each document type has a unique 'Edit Material' page.

  • Click the plus sign to expand an individual topic and view the materials under that topic.
  • Click the minus sign to collapse materials and view only the topic names.

To view an entire list of topic materials at the same time, click "Expand All Topics" or to hide the list, click "Collapse All Topics".

  • On the Materials page, select an option from the !show.jpg!dropdown menu(near the top of the page) to list just that type of document. This option is available to both instructors and students.
  • Convert the standard navigation bar to an OCW-style navigation bar. This automatically lists links to pages of each type of document.
  • Manually create links to lists of types of materials in the standard navigation bar by editing it in Advanced Mode.
