Problem Statement

Everyday an MIT Course 6 student gets 20-30 e-mails through the mailing list “jobslist”; many students simply set a filter for these e-mails. There is no common platform for students to view listings of jobs (full-time or part-time), internships, UROP’s, start-up opportunities or academic services such as tutoring, TA’ships, RA’ships, independent projects etc. The lack of such a platform is not limited to Course 6; it is a problem with most departments.

Most students would prefer to browse this information in a categorized user-friendly fashion. Unfortunately, such information is currently available on jobslists which send out numerous uncategorized emails that are not easily browsable. Our finished product will organize all the information for them and give them a usable interface to navigate through all the available opportunities. They will also be able to contact the people posting the opportunities, and also be able to 'follow' postings to get updates about them. They will also be able to contact the people creating the postings directly. Recruiters, people seeking startup partners, professors seeking UROP's and similar people wishing to advertise opportunities will be able to post on the website. They will be able to see the students interested in their postings and contact them directly.

Overall nice job and good improvements from user testing, but I saw a lot of little UI glitches in the meeting and you also seemed surprised to see certain parts didnt work as expected, so I think you would have benefitted from some more preparation and review of your system before presenting.
