Objectives brainstorm, Sept. 8

This one is hard, because we have to create targets that can be measured. This is just a group brain dump (draft).

Space
- do user study to establish baseline of how our spaces are being used
- increase door count by x%
- increase satisfaction with spaces on library survey
- do at least one observational study of our spaces
- Conduct a user needs study of our spaces in spring 2011. Use the data to understand how our spaces are used, where the problems and gaps are. Combine this with a survey of users that asks about their desires and needs for our spaces.

Virtual Sites
- Improve Vera Multi, improve stats (or decrease!) Vera stats
- Better understand geographic needs, count search and clicks in Geoweb to set baseline for how many queries came into GeoWeb, understand topics and location
- Count how much of our content is Googleable (SEO) to set baseline. Increase percentage of stuff that is Googleable.
- Improve stats for LibX downloads (putting ourselves where users are)
- Stellar (or future course management) - increase # of courses that have our stuff embedded
- Help students find and use more and better resources to inform their library research, by improving the Vera Multi-Search and A-Z interfaces. Aim to increase usage from Fall 2010 to Fall 2011 by a significant percentage. (pick a number)

UX Assessment
- Count how many projects have used our data to make decisions (qualitative and quantitative)
(how will we know we're getting the right metrics?)
- Aim for increased user satisfaction in our survey results.
- Offer to help staff use and understand the data we collect (training sessions, etc.)
- Discontinue at least 5 things (services?), based on what we've learned about user needs from our qualitative and quantitative data.
- Conduct a user needs assessment of MIT faculty from each of our communities of practice in the Spring of 2011. Include in-depth interviews that aim to discover the primary needs of different types of faculty members, needs that we can serve.

Marketing
- Increase # of Twitter followers by x%
- Higher door counts in physical spaces
- Awareness numbers increase in next library survey by certain percentage. (awareness of more than just Barton and Vera)

- Gather data to set baseline of awareness of our services (quantitative and qualitative data)
- Create (or gather) 10 user testimonials on video that show specific users talking about how one of our services helped them in their work. Cover a range of our services and a range of MIT communities. Do this by Dec. 2011.
