A proposed ACHEC meeting on April 12, 2016

Dear IACHEC members,

During the IACHEC meeting at Pune several of us discussed
the idea of periodic meetings of Astrosat X-ray payload
teams to jointly discuss the calibration of all the
instruments.  In the spirit of IACHEC we have called this
forum ACHEC (Astrosat Consortium for High Energy Calibration).

The first meeting of ACHEC is scheduled at TIFR, Mumbai
on April 12, 2016 0930-1700. IST.

We expect presentations on the results of the calibrations
so far carried out, and discussions on what needs to be
improved/monitored and what calibration observations need
to be planned further through the mission.  The discussions
will be categorised into five sections, which may evolve into
separate working groups with memberships from all payloads:

1. Effective Area
2. Spectral Response
3. Boresight and imaging
4. Background
5. Timing

Issues like contamination will be discussed under both
1 and 2 above.  We will also discuss the CALDB release
schedule of different instruments.

We request some IACHEC members to act as mentors to this effort. We will send the

necessary presentation material beforehand and we can organise a separate

discussion meeting lasting for about an hour. The time of this discussion session

is currently fixed at 16:00 IST on April 12, 2016 (06:30 AM for US East Coast and

11:00 AM European time).

We request  the IACHEC members to participate in the discussion meeting through Skype.

Thank you very much.

With regards,

Dipankar/ A R Rao
