This is the home page for the Data Definitions Working Group.
The mission of the Working Group on Data Definitions is to help promote
a common understanding of data available at the Institute. We hope to
determine appropriate and consistent definitions of data elements
related to people, money, space and research so that both internal and
external reporting at the Institute is accurate, timely, consistent and
reliable. In so doing, we hope to identify trends and help
decision-makers at the Institute make well-informed decisions.

We don't seem to be making a lot of progress on the "money" definitions. Many of the terms have been defined in documents used to train financial & other staff on OSP and/or CAO policies and procedures. To move this along, perhaps we should assign 'ownership' of terms and have the designated 'owners' post those definitions that have already been published elsewhere.
Then we can get to the critical business of defining the data sources themselves. -- Sarah Brady
