Process:
We calculated the Ex, rho_x, and S_x values using the following equations:
- Ex = f*Ef + (1-f)*Em
- ρ = f*ρf + (1-f)*ρm
- ν = f*νf + (1-f)*νm
- S = f*Sf + (1-f)*Sm
f was calculated to be t_core / f_fin, which for t_core = 0.125 and t_fin = 0.2, yielded 0.625.
The Ef, ρf, νf, and Sf values were found to be 3.2e6, 6.60e-2, 3.50e-1, and 4.00e4 respectively.
These values represent the G10 fiberglass material properties.
The value of Em, ρm, νm, and Sm were found to be 20.6e6, 0.03205, 0.3, and 300,000 respectively.
These values represent the carbon fiber/epoxy composite material properties which were found by evaluating the above equations using carbon fiber and epoxy.
This resulted in values for Ex, ρx, νx, and S of 9725000, 0.05326875, 0.33125, and 137500.
Entering these values in FinSim evaluated at a Rocket Flight Altitude of 11K ft, produced the results at the top of the page.
