I've set up a popup message, that appears on each launch, warning Athena users of Sun-only applications that Suns are going away and that they will need to find Linux alternatives if they want to continue working with this type of application on Athena. I suggested that users with specific concerns contact us by mailing to the 3partysw@mit.edu mailing list; so far no one has, except for a request to do batch conversion of FrameMaker documents and a request for a Distill alternative (the messages have been going out since last Summer for FrameMaker, and this April for Acrobat Distill and ESRI ArcInfo; those are the only significant Third Party software applications).
