Piston Mount | Manufacturing | Chela Rodriguez |
Purpose:
The piston mount attaches the piston to the Mission Package Tube (MPT).
Requirements:
Must withstand the force applied by the piston (340lbf) [with minimal deformation, less than .1 mm]
Must fit within the airframe
Must be able to interface with MPT
Must be able to interface with piston
Details/Design:
Material: Aluminum 6061 T6
Mass (from CAD model): 0.2 lbs
Safety Factor: 1.7
The Piston Mount connects the piston to the MPT and withstands piston actuation forces during recovery deployment. It includes six 6-32 radial tapped holes and a 3/4-20 (not sure if this is correct) tapped center hole for piston attachment. add any extra design details/considerations here.
FEA:
Forces considered: 340lbf piston actuation
