Problem Statement
When a group of people embark on a epic trip, they may find that they end up owing each other various amounts of money from expenses like food, lodging, car fuel, etc. As groups get larger, travel endeavors become larger, or roommate situations grow, it can become quite a nuisance to keep track of who owes who x amount of money. Some current solutions involve convoluted Excel spreadsheets, complicated bank-transfer programs, or handwritten logs-- all of which are cumbersome, unreliable, and inefficient to use.
Our product aims to address this debt-tracking issue by providing a simple, easy-to-use system in which users can effectively keep track of how much money is owed to them and how much they have paid back through an online, mobile-formatted website. The primary users (the general public) will be able to keep track of and recalculate debt on the fly with a user-interface especially designed for the task hand, replacing the inefficient and frustratingly tedious methods that exist today. A required login system (via Facebook or a similar feature) will allow users to communicate specified transactions with each other.
