Waitlisted Students

One issue with waitlisted students is faculty contact of students on the Wait List as a means of essentially interviewing them to get a better sense of quality, fit, etc. The concern with is that this is not the purpose of the Wait List. The Wait List is for students that are high quality, good fits, etc that we cannot admit immediately because of capacity issues. If there is any doubt about the student for any reason, they should not be put on the Wait List but rather should be rejected.

The GAC policy could then be to: "Enforce the requirement that wait-listed applicants are high-quality, admissible candidates but are not admitted immediately because of capacity. And, enforce the requirement that wait-listed applicants CANNOT be contacted by faculty unless they are admitted."
