In developing our modules, the AEI-Brookings team has identified a few questions for which we would be particularly interested in finding collaborators.  These are in rough draft form, so we'd also certainly appreciate feedback and/or other suggestions.  All three are for a post-election module.

(Asked of respondents who indicate voting on election day)

What time of day did you vote?
A)    Before 9:00am

B)     Between 9:00 and noon

C)     Between noon and 4:00pm

D)    Between 4:00 and 7:00

E)     After 7:00pm

(Asked of respondents who indicate voting before election day)

When people vote early, there is a period of time after they cast their ballot, but before the actual Election Day. Did anything happen during that period of time that made you wish you could go back and change who you voted for?
A)    Yes

B)     No

Were there any races for which you deliberately did not vote?
 A)    Yes
B)     No
(Asked if Yes) If so, what were they? (check all that apply)
A)    President of the United States
B)     Senator
C)     House of Representatives
D)    Governor
E)     Other state-wide office
F)      Member of state legislature
G)     Local office

Why didn't you vote for that office? (open-ended)

    1) What is the intention of this question?  To track roll off?  If we get a "yes" on some of these, what will we do with the responses?

    2) If we do choose to include these, you'd want to direct Polimetrix to only include Senator and Governor for those states in which there is a race.

  3. Paul,

Thanks for your comments.  The second question is intended to examine intentional undervotes.  We considered asking just if the respondent did not vote for president, but considered that too specific.
