The current x_identify routine is pretty limited and flaky.

It will be very helpful to implement an option to tweak certain orders only (14, 12, and 11 are quite bad). I went through all the orders only to have order 12 crash. Given the lack of lines up here, perhaps calibrating on the telluric absorption lines is a better option?

In addition, it had me do the order wavelength fitting twice on the same arc, which seemed counterproductive (it crashed the second time).

A few more reasonably bright Argon lines need to be added to the database used (Ar 2.5132 um for sure in order 11, and maybe 1-2 more faint lines in orders 14 and 12). Also, some guidance as to how good a solution is "good enough" would probably be instructive.

Oddly, the interactive wavelength section makes you fit the arc file for each exposure in a series, even when these are the same file with the same arc solution. There needs to be some option to use the existing solutions, given how tedious the process is even for one file.

Along the same lines, the clobber function in the extract preferences is a bit deceptive, since it actually DOES overwrite the vast majority of intermediate files (arc solution for instance!).
